Jose Reyes Winemaker

Jose Reyes has been an essential member of the CRŪ team since 2009. Originally from Sinaloa, Mexico and then California’s Central Coast, Jose began making wine 30 years ago under the direction of the winemaking team at the historical Bargetto Winery in Santa Cruz, California.

Jose strives to allow the grapes to express themselves without too much intervention.  He crafts wines that consistently receive 90+ point scores and are worthy of both special occasions and everyday drinking.

When he's not making wine, Jose enjoys cooking and spending time with his family.

Melissa Smith Cellar Master & Production Manager

Melissa Smith joins CRU Winery with over 14 years of experience in crafting high quality wines. Melissa began her career in winemaking at B.R. Cohn Winery as an Enologist. She was quickly promoted to Assistant Winemaker working closely with the winemaker on daily operations, vineyard monitoring, grower relations and supervising the cellar and lab.

From B.R. Cohn, Melissa became Winemaker at Papagni Wines where she crafted the entire portfolio including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and various late harvest wines. In her free time you can find Melissa at Shaver Lake.

Eriq Davila Enologist

Enologist Eriq Davila joined the CRŪ Winery team in 2023. Prior to CRŪ Winery, Eriq was at Cresco Labs and Vie-Del Winery where he operated the laboratories and honed his skills in enology and crafting quality wine blends.

As the Enologist on the CRŪ winemaking team, he focuses on much of the science behind the wines and continuing to elevate CRŪ Winery’s highly acclaimed portfolio.

In his free time, Eriq likes to visit local breweries and wineries with his family and friends.

Juan Reyes Winemaking Assistant & Cellar Hand

Juan Reyes, Jose’s son, has worked under his father’s tutelage for the past 10 years at CRŪ. 

When he is not in the lab pulling data or in the cellar working with his father, Juan spends ​his time furthering his wine knowledge or in the tasting room sharing his winemaking insight with guests.
